This three-day tour will take you into the fertile alluvial Mekong Delta where you explore the the exclusive river habitant life style here. You will have opportunity to see how local people live on the water surfaces, within a boat-house from generation to generation. Visit the tropical lush gardens, enjoy the rowing boat on the winding narrow canals. Explore a unique Floating market, Floating Fish village, Visit a brick kiln, a coconut shell husking and a coconut candy factory, a mat weaving workshop and religious sites which reflect local belief.
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Ben Tre – Cai Be
Leave Bustling Saigon for 2 hour driving by car to MyTho, the town on the main branch of Mekong. Upon arrival in MyTho city, drive to Rach Mieu suspension bridge to have the spectacular panorama view of 4 islands include ThoiSon, TanLong, Con Qui, Con Phung Drive further on to the toll gate, pass by BaLai river, another small branch of Mekong that flow to BaTri town, a famous area with thousands of birds living in the mangrove forest then we reach to BenTre. From the pier, embark a wooden boat for one hour cruise on Bentre river, a tributary of Ham Luong – the 4th branch of Mekong river. While the boat is cruising, enjoy the shimmering waterways, riding down the busy branch of the HamLuong and into the winding canal shaded by coconut palm. We visit a brick kiln and a coconut shell husking workshop. See how hard the daily life of local worker here with their job of taking shell of the coconut, continue cruise further to visit a coconut-candy workshop, a main product that made BenTre famous. We will disembark at a local market in NhonThanh commune and take a troll on the village paths explore the market products. Visit a home factory where sleeping mats handmade with a tradition hand weaving sedge mat or rush mat. Then cycling through the quiet island to see how local daily life is going. Depend on the availability, experience your adventure by hop on a Lambretta triporteur an old 1960 traditional tricycle in south Vietnam. This Lambretta will ride around the coconut palms, bitter melon or cucumber farms then stop in a farmer house that we will have lunch with the delicious local specialities and relax.
In the afternoon, get more insight of coconut farms and fruit orchards by walking in the village Its about 700 m promenade through the peaceful countryside paths and experience the hand-rowing sampan slowly cruise under the canopy of water coconut palms along the canals. Board to the boat again and cruise back to the Ben Tre pier. Head to Cái Bè, Arrive Cai Be, check in your resort and enjoy your romantic sunset on the restaurant with the spectacular view toward Mekong river or relax on the swimming pool with a glass of wine. Have dinner in resort with local specialities such as : Fried sticky rice ball, chicken grilled in the clay jars, Rice pancake rolled in the lettuce leaf, “Elephan Ears Fish" … Overnight in Cai Be.
Day 2: Cai Be- Sa Dec – Can Tho
Have breakfast and enjoy an a very fresh morning on the riverside restaurant. Then take a boat cruise through Co Chien River toward Sa Dec province well-known for the flower planting. Stop to visit an ancient house which is home of the ex-lover of the French writer, Marguerite Duras who turned her love story into the famous novel “The Lovers”. After lunch at this ancient house, hop on local bike for a short leisure ride to visit the local flower farms where the flowers growing on the shelves above the watersurface. After the visit in flower villages, drive to Can Tho, the metropolis city of Meong Delta. Arrive Can Tho, check-in hotel then at leisure for a while. In late afternoon, cycling through the small and quiet paths and the lush gardens, then sit down in Ninh Kieu dock, admire the sunset on the river and have dinner with local delicacies. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Can Tho.
Day 3: Can Tho - Ho Chi Minh City
This morning you will wake up early to explore the bustling Cai Rang Floating Market where a maze of boats gathering and piled up with local products. You will cruise on the long tailed motorized boat into the floating market, interact with vendors and sample some tropical fruits and try your bargain skill if you like. Then, disembark at Ninh Kieu dock and return to your hotel for breakfast and check out. Continue explore Can Tho by another couple of hours pleasant cycling on the tranquil country paths and admire the most scenic route of the areas. Last visit in Can Tho is to Binh Thuy ancient house which built in 1870 and well-known for its unique ancient beautiful architecture blended by French style and traditional Southern Vietnamese style. Depart to Ho Chi Minh city. On the way, stop to visit Dong Tam Snake Farm. You will arrive to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh city in late afternoon.
