The Truong Son Mountain Range, including Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, boasts a varied history, stunning scenery, great coffee and fascinating minority villages. This is a remote part of Vietnam, best for those looking for a chance to spend time with the local people in an authentic and adventurous setting.





DAY 1 - PLEIKU - KON TUM

Arrive at Pleiku Airport, meet your guide and drive to Kon Tum ( 50 mins ) then check into the hotel.
Have a rest for couple of hour, then visit Gia Rai villages. The minority people Gia Rai group believes in the existence of divinity and hold rituals connected to this belief. Gia Rai people live with the matriarchal society, the women are free to get who they marry. The husband lives with the wife’s family and inheritance is passed on to the daughters. Visit Rong House, the communal house of each village. It is often the biggest house roofed in the village with a tall, steeply pitched thatched roof and 8 big wood columns. Its special structure with no nails are used in the bamboo construction.
Return to hotel. The rest of the day is leisure. Overnight in Kon Tum.


DAY 2 - KON TUM - KON KO TU VILLAGE HOMESTAY (B,D)

This morning take 1 hour drive to visit the Kon Ray and Kon Buu village where the Xo Dang Tdra hill tribe people live. Visit the long stilt houses constructed by bamboo and straw, secured with rattan.
Drive on to a Jo Long hill tribe village called Kon Du, catch glimpses of hand weaving on giant looms or the eerie wooden statues in the cemeteries then return to your hotel for check out.
In the afternoon, drive 30-minutes to Kon Ko Tu village where Bahna hill tribe group live . On arrival start a 4 km trek on the Dak Bla riverbank, where local villagers are hard at work tending buffalos, preparing crops for harvest, and transporting their product to the village market. Return by a pirogue boat to Kon Ko Tu village.
Tonight’s dinner is a local treat, including a Gong show and Xoang dancing while drinking the local rice wine.

DAY 3 - KON KO TU VILLAGE HOMESTAY KONTUM - BUON MA THUOT (B)

In the morning leave Kon Ko Tu Village and drive back 30-minutes to Kom Tum to explore the town’s old wooden church. It is an interesting blend of hill tribe and European architecture. Continue on to visit the Bahnar hill tribe groups , where animist beliefs are still a part of everyday life. The most famous spirits are the kings of water, fire and wind, represented by shamans who are involved in rain-making ceremonies and other rituals.
From Kon Tum, drive to Boun Ma Thuot (5 hours) , enjoy a journey passing by countless coffee, rubber, and pepper plantations.
Close to Buon Ma Thuot, stop to enjoy the scenery and panoramic views of the lowland country. The region is inhabited by Jarai hill tribe, the largest ethnic group in the Central Highlands with an estimated population of 330,000 people. Arrive Buon Ma Thuot, check-in hotel then visit the local market with a huge array of fresh food, if time permits. Buon Ma Thuot is the capital of Vietnamese Coffee , so you have a must- taste : coffee . Try to visit a famous bamboo made coffee house in Buon Ma Thuot and blend your evening with local flavour here.
Overnight in Buon Ma Thuot.


DAY 4 - BUON MA THUOT - LAK LAKE - DRAY SAP - DEPARTURE (B)

Take a morning drive of 1.5 hr to Lak Lake. Visit Jun ethnic minority village, where people still follow their ancestral ways of fishing, weaving brocade, and water farming. Enjoy an elephant ride through Lak Lake.
On the way back to Buon Ma Thuot visit the 100m - wide Dray Sap waterfall in the middle of hardwood rainforest
Enjoy a beautiful view from a suspension bridge that crosses the river.
Drive to Buon Ma Thuot airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City (depending on your flight schedule ).
